What's New for 2011
Edge is updated style has improved in quality materials and new MYFORD Touch controller, which uses a touch screen and improved mobile phone-like buttons on the steering wheel for better access to navigation stereo and climate functions. Edge is the first U.S. market for Ford EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine. (Power figures have not been reported, but the market 2.0-liter EcoBoost European S-Max to develop 200 horsepower). Edge Sport gets 305 horsepower 3.7-liter V6, but 285 hp 3.5-liter V6 is available in other Edge models.
Escape / Escape Hybrid: the addition of an electric power steering: The Escape can be equipped with the excellent Ford automatic parking systems. High definition (HD) radio also agrees with the list of options.
SHIPPING: A new base model XL is available, and Eddie Bauer trim level was dropped. Sync system now includes traffic and operator-assisted directions, HD Radio is now optional, and available rear entertainment system with dual screens mounted behind the headrests of the front seat.
EXPLORER: (photo) sharing the same platform as the Edge and Flex, the new Explorer is powered by either a 290 hp 3.5-liter V6 or a 237 hp 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. Explorer V6 offers a sophisticated and easy to use, all-wheel drive system. A long list of safety features include the industry's first inflatable safety belts are available in rear of the Explorer, which can help reduce injuries among children and elderly passengers by distributing the load on the chest.
